Bill Emmott is an award winning journalist and editor-in-chief of The Economist magazine from 1993 to 2006. The author of 12 books, mainly on Japan, Asia and Italy, he is now working on a book about the task of reviving Western liberal democracies. He is the co-writer and narrator of the film Girlfriend in a Coma (2012), and executive producer of "The Great European Disaster Movie" (2015), both directed and written by Annalisa Piras. In 2013 he co-founded (with Annalisa Piras) The Wake Up Foundation, an educational charity aimed at spreading understanding about the fundamental values of liberal democratic societies and the threats posed to them.
