On 20-21 May 2016, the European Parliament will be opening its doors once again to 7000 young people for the European Youth Event (EYE 2016). As the main partner of the event, the European Youth Forum will contribute by setting up a vibrant political youth festival outside the European Parliament. The YO! Fest (‘Youth Opinion’ Festival) will combining high-level political debates with interactive workshops and artistic performances in a unique festival atmosphere.

The European Movement International was selected by the European Youth Forum as a partner and has developed a concept and programme for the event and will be co-hosting one of the Festival Hubs, “Apathy or Participation”.

On Saturday, 21 May, 16:45 – 19:15, we will turn the hub into a movie theater for the “European Apocalypse now?”. We will host a screening of “The Great European Disaster” and debate on the future of Europe and reviving democracy.

Join Wake Up Europe!

Wake Up Europe is a campaign brought to you by the Wake Up Foundation. It was sparked by the themes explored in The Great European Disaster Movie by Annalisa Piras and Bill Emmott.

We believe in the values that inspired the European project but that this project isn't working. Europe is sleep-walking towards disaster. We must wake up Europe so that we can save Europe from itself.

This job is too important to be left to the elites, the media, the political parties alone: ordinary people must be encouraged to discuss what Europe they want to see.
